Canvas – 385-389 Oxford Street

Founded by two brothers in 2013 Canvas is now a growing family creating the best workplace experience for growing businesses. Canvas combines the advantages of private offices with the communal facilities and perks of the co-working world.

Canvas’ business philosophy is to create the best possible experience for their clients. They transform forgotten buildings into inspirational spaces that feel like home.

Canvas cares deeply about their clients and are passionate about creating the best possible environment for them. When developing their latest co-working project at 385-389 Oxford Street project, Air Conditioning was a key requirement to ensure that they can continue to provide a comfortable, fresh and modern office space, suitable for all seasons.

Canvas contacted Jack Frost Air Conditioning Ltd, based in Kent to provide a turnkey solution for their offices. They wanted a solution that not only provided all year round comfort, but could also be retrofitted into the existing building, whilst avoiding the need for Cranes on site to place the condensers on the roof.

Jack Frost Air Conditioning selected the MHI Mini VRF systems with Wall Mounted Indoor units for the project. With condensing units ranging from 12.5kW up to 33.5kW’s in the range benefiting from a compact condenser design the units met the requirement of being able to be placed onto the roof without the use of a crane and whilst maximising space.

The aesthetics of the indoor units were incredibly important to Canvas as they wanted to maintain the fresh and modern office space. MHI’s FDK range of indoor units were selected. This model has recently been re-designed with a modern flatter look, new state of the art flap control system and jet technology to enable uniform air conditioning even in the furthest corners of the room.

According to industry figures up to 80% of the operational cost of running a building are related to the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems. So it is here that the most potential for long term savings can be found. Jack Frost Air Conditioning wanted to ensure optimum comfort and running efficiencies so also installed the MHI SC-SL4-AE centralised controller which features a 7-inch interactive LCD display. The centralised controller offers many energy saving features as well as control, monitoring, scheduling and service/maintenance functions for up to 128 indoor units. Indoor units can be controlled, scheduled, monitored and interrogated either individually or as groups.

Performs the start/stop control, monitoring and mode setting of up to 128 units. It is a high quality air conditioner control system that allows indoor units to be freely grouped. It allows not only the start/stop control but also the monitoring, display of operation statuses such as in operation or in need of service and mode setting such as switching of operation modes of connected units collectively, by group or individually.
